How to differentiate Danfoss valves?

There are 3 types of Danfoss valves: RA, RAV (=RA/V) and RAVL (=RA/VL).

The easiest way is to measure the outside diameter of your valve with a caliper:

Another less reliable method is to look at the top of the valve:

  • the Danfoss RA has a crown
  • the Danfoss RAV has a flat hexagonal nut
  • the Danfoss RAVL has a rounded hexagon nut
